Ty Landrum is the director of the Yoga Workshop in Boulder, Colorado. He teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga as he learned it from his teachers, Mary Taylor and Richard Freeman. With a PhD in Philosophy, Ty has a special touch for explaining the theory of yoga with color and creativity. His passion as a teacher is to share the brilliance of the Ashtanga Vinyasa method with anyone who wants to learn.
In the Ashtanga tradition, manual assistance is an important part of teaching.
Radiance in Motion
The practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa amplifies our internal currents of breath. With assiduous practice, we can learn to ride these currents, moving our bodies with elegance and grace.
In this session, we learn the techniques of bandha and mudra that underlie this ability, and we explore them through some fundamental movement patterns from the Ashtanga Vinyasa system, including the coveted actions of pressing, piking, jumping through and jumping back. We learn techniques for cultivating these actions over time, and imbuing our movements with radiance. This class is vigorous and lost of fun.
